Boy Scout Leader Training

 
There are two kinds of Training for Boy Scout Leaders:
 
Online Training and Classroom Training.
 
This page gives details for both.




ONLINE TRAINING:

Many courses are offered online at MyScouting.org E-Learning site. You may need to register in order to log-in.

Youth Protection Training

 


ALL youth serving leaders are required to be registered leaders and have completed Youth Protection Training.

Boy Scout Leader Fast Start

 


All new Boy Scout leaders should take Fast Start training as soon as possible. This online Fast Start training is a quick orientation to help you get ready for your first Boy Scout meeting. There is no time limit, nor do you need to review all sections from the same computer. However, if you choose to leave the training in the middle of one of the sections, you will start at the beginning of that section upon your return.

CLASSROOM TRAINING:


Outdoor Leader Skills

 


This Course is the required outdoor training for all Scoutmasters, Assistant Scoutmasters, and Varsity Coaches. The skills taught are based on the outdoor skills found in the Boy Scout Handbook. The course is also ideal for Venturing Leaders because it focuses on skills that build confidence and competence in leaders conducting outdoor camping experiences. This course is intended for every adult leader and active parent in every Boy Scout Troop. It is designed to provide a working knowledge of the basic outdoor skills necessary for the success of a Boy Scout Troop. It is great for ALL Leaders and active Parents. It is also ideal for Second Year Webelos Leaders, to help them to be prepared for the upcoming Boy Scout program. Outdoor skills are critical to the success of the Scouting program, and Outdoor Leader Skills will provide leaders and active parents with the basic outdoor skills information needed to start or maintain a quality program.

Boy Scout Leader Specific Training

 


Course covers Troop organization and the Troop meeting. Includes training for Troop Committee Positions.

National Leadership Youth Training

NYLT is the pinnacle of Boy Scout training for youth. Every deserves a Senior Patrol Leader who is trained and prepared for the resonsiblilities he faces. NYLT offers training in advanced Scout skills and teaches the eleven points of leadership.

NEXT COURSE: June 2012, Camp White Pines (There are only 48 spots available for this course, first come first serve, only 2 boys per Troop)
