Camps & Facilities

The Blue Ridge Council maintains camping facilities for year-round use for unit camping. To arrange for use of these facilities, contact the facility coordinator at the Blue Ridge Council Service Center (864-233-8363) to check availability and submit a Permit for Use of Facilities.
Camp Old Indian (Off-season)
Camp Old Indian is available for use by units during the off-season (non-summer months) except during special events. The camp covers 1,100 acres and has three lakes for swimming, boating, and fishing. COI is great for new troops or Webelos Dens. Water is available year-round at designated locations. There is no fee for unit camping.

Adirondacks-three sided shelters that sleep either 4 or 8
Cabins-sleep 16 to 18
Program Shelters-great for cookouts and gatherings
Activity Field-softball, Frisbee, or games
Amphitheater-for outside programs and pageants, holds 400 persons
Dining Hall and Conference Center-fee for use
Directions:
From Greenville, SC: Take Hwy 25 north from Greenville approximately 20 miles. Exit onto Old Highway 25 approximately 1 mile north of Hwy 11 underpass and follow signs 6 miles to Camp Old Indian. View Map.
From I-26: I-26 to SC 11. Take SC 11 West and continue approximately 20 miles until you see sign for SC 101 on the left side of highway. Turn right instead onto State 912. Follow 912 about 1 mile until you see Callahan Mountain Road on Right. Turn right and follow to camp. Camp will be on right at bottom of hill.
From Greer, SC: Take SC 101 until it runs into SC 11. Cross 11 onto State 912. Follow 912 about 1 mile until you see Callahan Mountain Road on Right. Turn right and follow to camp. Camp will be on right at bottom of hill.
Camp Availability Schedule
Camp Old Indian is generally open all weekends, except for a few times during the year. Please contact the Facility Coordinator at the Scout Service Center - 864-233-8363.
Carroll Brown Outpost Camp (Year-round)
Formerly know as Wetoga, Carroll Brown is one of the Blue Ridge Council's best kept secrets. It is nestled in the woods on the other side of the mountain across the road from Camp Old Indian. It has a running water, a lodge, and a beautiful area for primitive tent camping. There is no fee for unit camping.
Directions
Take Hwy 25 north from Greenville approximately 20 miles. Exit onto Old 25 approximately 1 mile north of Hwy 11 underpass and follow signs to Camp Old Indian (COI). Just before the fork to COI near the fire station, turn right on Dividing Waters Road and proceed just over 1 mile to Carroll Brown Outpost Camp on the left. There will be a stone post at the gate.
Camp White Pines (Year-round)
Camp White Pines is the primary training camp for the Blue Ridge Council and District level training events. Council courses in Outdoor Training and Junior Leader training are held annually. Camp White Pines is available for unit camping year round when no special events are scheduled. White Pines is an excellent choice for Webelos and younger Scouts that need primitive camping experience in a not-so-primitive environment. It is located about 1 mile before Camp Old Indian.

Camp Arrowhead (Year-round)
Camp Arrowhead is located on Lake Secession near Antreville, SC. It has been the site of several camporees and many unit trips for Troops in the western areas of the Council. For a nice weekend on the lake, you cannot beat Camp Arrowhead. Water available. There is no fee for unit camping.

Directions
Take Exit 27 off I85.  Take Hwy 81 South toward Anderson.  Stay on 81 for about 15 miles until you see Owens Corning on the left.  Take a left immediately after Owens Corning onto Flat Rock Road.  You will stay on this road for 13 miles going through 2 stop signs.  Your next turn will be left onto Lakeside Drive.  Lakeside Drive is approximately 3.5 miles after the second stop sign.  Once you turn left onto Lakeside Dirve, you will turn left onto Boy Scout Road.  Follow this gravel road staying to the left at the fork.  After passing the mobile home you will come to another fork.  go left through the large gate.  Also using a map website like maps, google.com, you can find the road by searching for Boy Scout Road, Iva, SC.
Canoe Rental
Canoes can be rented from the Blue Ridge Council by registered Scout units except during summer camp. The cost is well below that of commercial outfitters. Life jackets, paddles, and trailer are included in rental costs. Unit must follow Safety Afloat guidelines. Contact the Facility Coordinator for availability.
Fees
$100 deposit-each trailer and equipment
Per day $20/boat
Per weekend $40/boat
Extended use $20 first day and $10 per day after (3 or more days)

Local Tour Permit Application (Acrobat)
Permit for Use of Blue Ridge Council Facilities (in MS Word Format)
Leaders should be familiar with principles covered in Youth Protection, the Guide to Safe Scouting, and Leave No Trace.
Other applicable guidelines must be followed, e.g. Safe Swim Defense and Climb On Safely.
