Facilities & Activities
Camp Old Indian is 1,000 acres nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains near Travelers Rest, SC (see directions on reverse side). Camp Old Indian is a premier Scout camp in the southeast featuring fun-filled activities for Cub Scouts and parents. Activities for your weekend will include: ARCHERY, CAMPING, PERSONAL FITNESS, FIELD GAMES, BB GUNS, FIREBUILDING, and an exciting EVENING CAMPFIRE.
Camp Old Indian has Adirondacks (small shelters open in the front with bunks) and several cabins. If you do not wish to sleep in the Adirondack shelter, you are welcome to bring your own tent. Please carpool and pack light as vehicles stay in the parking lot.
Registration/Sessions
Check with your Pack leaders on the session they are attending and mark your 1st, 2nd, & 3rd choices on this form. Sessions are filled on a first come, first served basis. If your first choice for a session is filled, we will send you a postcard alerting you to the session we have placed you in. Please do not show for a session that you are not booked for, as there will be no on site registration due to space limitations. Register early, as camp will only hold 400 people per session. Every effort will be made to keep Packs camping in the same area. No matter which session you choose, it is a fun packed 18 hours at camp. The Registration form is located on the bottom of this flyer.
Check-In
If you choose a Friday session, check in between 5:00 PM-7:00 PM, depart at noon on Saturday. If you choose a Saturday session, check in between 1:30 PM-2:30 PM, depart Sunday morning by 9:00 AM. For the Saturday session, YOU MUST NOT arrive before 1:30 PM, as we have to get the parking lot cleared from the previous session. Camp rules are: no use of tobacco in front of Scouts, no alcohol, no pets, no firearms, no video games or television and no fireworks. Scout attending must be a registered Cub Scout.
What to Bring
Sleeping bag or sheets and blankets, pillow, flashlight, toothbrush, rain gear, jacket, hat (evenings can get cool). Place sleeping items in a heavy duty garbage bag for the Scout to carry or in a good duffle bag or backpack. That way if he drops it, everything stays clean and dry. The walk to your camp should be 1/4 mile or more uphill. Your Scout’s uniform should be marked with his name on the labels and in his hat. DRESS ACCORDING TO THE WEATHER! Event will be held Rain or Shine.
Meals
Supper is on your own. It should be kept simple, or bring precooked. Breakfast is the only meal that will be provided.
Fees
$15.00 per person, non refundable. Fee includes breakfast, patch for all Scouts and registered leaders, activities and program materials. The campout is designed for the Scout and a parent or guardian. Sorry, no space for family camping/siblings. If you want a Cub/Parent weekend T-shirt, you must pre-order the T-shirt. All size t-shirts are $12.00. Payment is required with your registration.
