What is Friends of Scouting?

Friends of Scouting is the Blue Ridge Council's annual giving campaign. It is conducted during January through May of each calendar year. During the campaign, over 5,000 parents, businesses, individuals, and community organizations are contacted and asked to support Scouting in the community. Friends of Scouting comprises 41% of the Blue Ridge Council's operating budget. Other sources of funding include: Program Fees 29%, DCA and Popcorn Sale 15%, Council Scout Shop and other income 3%, and our seven United Way partners 14%. The growth and quality of Scouting in the Upstate of South Carolina is dependent on a successful Friends of Scouting campaign. The Blue Ridge Council is recognized by the IRS as a 501c3 organization, and contributions are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

2011 Family Friends of Scouting Form

The Character 2011 Family Membership Enrollment process is the annual opportunity for parents in the Upstate to support local Souting efforts by making a pledge to the Blue Ridge Council. Again, this year our intention is to reach each family through Pack, Troop, Team, Crew and Post gatherings from December through March.

The Character 2011 presentations will make a dramatic impact on our ability to continue the implementation of Camp Old Indian as well as our ability to continually serve local at-risk and underprivileged youth. Parents will have an opportunity to truly make a difference on the future of Scouting.

Founders Club - $100 per month for 1 year ($1,000)

Character Partners - $33 per month for 3 years ($1,000)
