Unit Recharters
This is a reminder to all youth, parents, unit leaders, and chartering organizations. All of Long Cane’s Scouting units have a Recharter kit that should be completed and turned in by our February Roundtable Meeting. NO LATER PLEASE! Units benefit by Rechartering on time; each unit that Recharters on time will meet one of the requirements for Quality Unit and Gold Star Unit. Gold Star Units reap the benefit of receiving all cloth advancements for free for one year. This results in substantial monetary savings for units that fall under this honorable classification. Parents and leaders, please help your Scouting Unit with this year’s recharter by getting your registration fee in on time.

Family Friends of Scouting
Our Friends of Scouting Campaign is underway again. Please help support our district by participating in this campaign. The Family Friends of Scouting Campaign is a tremendous opportunity for all of us involved in Scouting to help financially support Scouting in our community for another year. In 2009, ninety eight percent of Long Cane’s Scouting Units received some sort of financial support, whether for youth registration fees, adult registration fees, charter fees, books, uniforms, Day Camp Scholarships, Cub Scout Resident Camp Scholarships, Boy Scout Summer Camp Scholarships, advancement patches, pins, Spring and Fall Camporee Scholarships, Pinewood Derby Scholarships, etc. Parents and unit leaders, please help support our 2010 Family Friends of Scouting campaign by considering your financial support for Scouting efforts. |

Thank You
The Long Cane District thanks everyone for being involved in our 2009 Scouting program. Due to each and every hardworking volunteer, we were awarded the President’s Award and Quality District Award. Those high honors were awarded to the District due to all your hard work and dedication to the District! I look forward to this upcoming year and working with all of the wonderful people that make up our community in 2010!

Scouting provides the opportunity to strengthen ties between family members, create great family memories, and develop a shared family foundation of worthwhile virtues and values. The Generations Connection encourages Scouts to explore the positive impact of Scouting on families through a program centered around the enduring symbol of the tree.
