National Events

A variety of activities will include participants from across the Nation: Blue Ridge Council will also participate in projects also happening across the nation. Get involved- Join us in these eight National Celebration Programs.
  • BSA Alumni Connection - Reconnect with the Boy Scouts of America..Rekindle memories.Re-engage in Scouting..SUPPORT Scouting...
  • Through the National Hall of Leadership project, the community is encouraged to recognize personal Scouting mentors, heroes or leaders (of any age or experience level) by submitting nominations in brief story format for entry and consideration to the National Hall of Leadership. These individuals will also be recognized locally.
  • Generations  Connection- Tell us your family Scouting story. Fill out a Family Scouting Tree and order a 100th Anniversary Tree from the Arbor Foundation.
  • Get in the Game! Geocaching Year of Celebration - For our 100th Anniversary Celebration, the BSA is tapping into the fun and excitement of geocaching and inviting you along. Through Get in the Game! geocaching events, Scouts and non-Scouts alike will search for prizes in this fast-paced outdoor quest. It's a great way to share Scouting skills — and adventure — with today's tech savvy kids.
  • Adventure Base 100 - Experience Scouting like never before with Adventure Base 100! Created specifically for the 100th Anniversary Celebration, Adventure Base 100 is traveling the country to give people an exciting, hands-on view of the history and future of the Boy Scouts of America.
  • A Shining Light Across America -For the first time in the history of the Boy Scouts of America, we will be bringing the entire Scouting community together for a single, nationwide event to celebrate our organization and reflect on what it has meant to millions of America’s youth .
  • A Pitch for Scouting A celebration with major and minor league baseball.
  • Year of Celebration- A Year of Celebration  will take place from September 1, 2009 through December 31, 2010.  The program is open to all Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Venturers, adult leaders, and Scouting alumni.  Program Participants will earn recogntion for making a difference in their communities due to their dedication to five of Scouting's core values:  Leadership, Character, Community Service, Achievement, and the Outdoors.
