New Programs



New Scouting programs are coming to the Upstate this fall! 
-The Blue Ridge Council, Boy Scouts of America introduces Lions and STEM Scouts.


The Blue Ridge Council has been approved by the Boy Scouts of America to launch two new pilot programs to in the Upstate of SC, this fall. The Lions program will allow kindergarten boys to join Scouting.  STEM Scouts is a co-ed program that focuses on STEM activities. Both of these programs will allow the Blue Ridge Council to serve more youth and instill the values of Scouting!


For the first time in 106 years, 5-year-old boys will be able to join Scouting as Lion Scouts. Lions introduces kindergarten boys to the values of Scouting in an age-appropriate way. The Lion program promises to expand boy’s imagination, spark creativity and amplify fun. 


Rather than having an outdoor program with a small STEM focus, the new STEM Scouts pilot program focuses exclusively on Science Math Engineering and Technology. The program is for both girls and boys in third through 12th grade.  STEM Scouts uses hands-on activities, field trips and interaction with STEM professionals to build interest in STEM related careers.  


The Blue Ridge Council, Boy Scouts of America provides Scouting to eight counties across the Upstate of S.C. The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetime by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.
