Executive Board Referral Form
The Blue Ridge Council is experiencing exciting growth. We now serve thousands of young people across our eight-county area — and the need for Scouting has never been greater. In today’s world, youth need the leadership, values, and skills that Scouting uniquely provides. Scouting gives young people the opportunity to explore a world beyond the boundaries of everyday life. They try new things, provide service to others, build self-confidence and develop leadership skills. These experiences stay with them throughout their adult lives, helping them to grow into exceptional men and women who respect their families, communities, religions, countries and themselves—-and are Prepared. For Life. To meet this challenge, we are working to broaden the expertise and geographic representation on our Executive Board.
The Executive Board Nominating Committee is now accepting referrals for candidates to serve on the Executive Board for the 2026–2027 term, beginning January 1, 2026.
We invite you to recommend outstanding leaders — and yes, self-referrals are welcome. Prior Scouting experience is not required. What we seek are individuals who bring:
- Senior or top-level executive experience
- A proven record of helping youth organizations or strong credentials to do so
- A passion for making a difference in the lives of young people ages k5-17.
Executive Board Members are expected to:
- Lead strategically: Guide membership growth, program quality, and community impact.
- Safeguard resources: Approve budgets, ensure financial health, and protect council assets (such as camps).
- Support fundraising: Make a personal financial commitment and assist in raising funds.
- Advocate for Scouting: Open doors, build community partnerships, and strengthen Scouting’s visibility.
- Recruit and inspire: Help bring in other strong leaders and volunteers.
- Commit time & expertise: Attend board meetings, serve on a committee, and support major council events.
If you know someone who demonstrates these qualities and has the passion to help shape the future of Scouting, please submit your referral below.
